Claire It needn't have been an epidemic, childhood illnesses such as measles and whooping cough killed children in the days before vaccination. And if one child in the family contracted an illness it would probably have spread to others in the same house. The only way to know is to get the certificates otherwise its speculation Lou

can anyone suggest a possible cause of death around 1848. My GGGG Grandparents had 2 children die within a month of each other towards the end of 1848. The girl was only 18 months old and the boy who died a month after was about 6. does anyone know if there was an epidemic going around at that time? c x
