1837 query - christian name indicated as unknown

Nell Good idea. Family I am researching were strict RC's and therefore would definitely have had all thier children baptised. Thanks for the suggestion. Karen |

Hmm. That's a pain! If you have the right area, I suppose you could think about baptism records - the child would have to have a name then! nell |

Nell Unfortunately its 1931 and therefore can't use census. Mother's maiden name and location fits with my research but I will obviously come to a quick dead end if there is no christian name. Will probably order it anyway to satisfy my curiousity. Thanks for the response Karen |

If it says unknown in the index I imagine that is what it will say on the cert. But not sure. Generally unnamed children have 'female' or 'male' in front of the surname in the index. You don't say when this entry was - could you try to find this person on a census? nell |

Have identified a potential relative's birth on 1837 however christian name is indicated as unknown. If I order the birth cert will it indicate a name or will it say unknown? Karen |
