I'm very stuck with this one so any advice would be great!! Frederick Jackson, born about 1836, clerkenwell, London. From his marriage cert. in 1856 his father was John. His daughter Amelia Grace Jackson was born in 1861. So, where was he likely to be christened? (My London geography is nil!!) On the IGI, I did find a Frederick Jackson, born 1835, and christened in Holborn in 1835 in Holborn, son of John Jackson and Grace. Is this a likely one?

Holborn is about a mile from Clerkenwell but there were dozens of churches in the area. Check out possible churches on this site: www.genuki.org.uk/big/parloc/search.html Judith

Holborn and Clerkenwell are separate but adjacent areas of London. My husband had family in both areas and I have walked from one to t'other in about 15 minutes. You can check how near by looking on www*streetmap*uk*co [replace * with .] or in a London A-Z - you can find a range of these in any WH Smiths, or at your local library. nell

Thank you Peter, Judith and Little Nell, Looks like I'm going to have a fun time tracking this one down!! Just out of curiosity, do you think Grace was a common name back then? Maybe just coincidence that the Frederick Jackson on the IGI (Holborn) has parents of John and Grace, and Frederick names his daughter Amelia Grace!! Many thanks Paula x

I spotted the Grace connection. It does suggest they are the same family, but Grace isn't uncommon in those days - my husband had several Graces in his family tree at that time. nell

Hi Pat, Thank you very much for that info. It's definitely the right family, and it ties in with all the info I have so far. Best wishes Paula x

St Andrew's church is still there and rather picturesque. My husband had rellies way back that married there. nell

Hi Joseph, Thanks for that - I'll dig further into that site. Nell, It's lovely when you can see the places that your rellies used, and the areas around where they lived!! Best wishes Paula
