Jim, sorry but I was 'Wrong', she WAS legitimate, but her brother and sister weren't (but lied about their ages !) Very confusing ! (they were Weavers like their mother!) I DO get confused as there is also Elizabeth Weavers and Bartletts separate with different d.o.bs in same place. Christine thank you for all those , looks like will be spending some money there! http://www.wiltshirebmd.org.uk is still fairly new and only has marriages on it but they include: Wiltshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1870 Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference BARTLETT Elizabeth BIRD John Ashton Keynes Chippenham C68/1/202 and also Wiltshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1888 Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference BARTLETT * Elizabeth S JENNINGS Isaac Cricklade Chippenham CRICKRO/1/60 Those refs will get you the certs from the Wiltshire RO. Thankyou, hadn't thought of that either! Must have left my brain somewhere! Just looked on ancestry and Isaac Jennings is transcribed as Grace !! But the writing is hideous on the census, but 'Grace' is the wrong sex!? Kim |

Re Elizabeth 'Leonard' 1881census born Ashton keynes Wilts b approx 1856. I have established she married John Bird in 1870 and was born as Elizabeth BARTLETT. She has son JOhn in 1872.................. Then it gets confusing , she appears to marry ?? Leonard and have a son George and appears on the 1881 census as Elizabeth Leonard married but no husband.......... with her parents in Ashton keynes age 25......... BUT IN 1891 on ancestry she is in Swindon age 35 with a new husband ? Jennings, which I can't read! George Leonard and John Bird are still with her,.......... Can anybody find 2nd husband ? Leonard or read the name of the 3rd husband 's first name on census in 1891 on ancestry? Please and thank you in advance! Cheers Kim |
