Hi Rosalind...Firstly, I think you mean 'RIPPED OFF' LOL! Secondly put a message on the following website www.myfolks.net if your sister is looking for you, or her birth parents, you need to put as many messages out there as possible

I f you know your sisters birth name and date of birth you can approach the local county council in the area from which she was adopted and ask for a letter to be put on her adoption file. If she has already applied for her file the letter wold be forwarded to her. what is almost impossible to find out is what name she was given on adoption Jess

Rosalind This is a thread and so are all the other message titles on this board. Someone has put the Adoption one back on the first page of this message board for you to see. nell

Depends on how much you know about her as to what you can do - do you know her birth name and birth date,Where she was born ?

hi there, I live in Portsmouth and at the age of 39 have plucked up the courage to try and find my true sister. She was adopted out at 6 weeks in 1965. I do not know many avenues to take and the ones I have tried want money and obviously I am a bit weary about parting with cash as I dont know if I am going to be 'bumped' off. Any help in giving directions would be much appreciated.
