Hi there - me again. I think you'll find Islington and St Panrcras Cemeteries are actually one and the same, both are 'Finchley' Cemetery. Where you actually lived influenced which 'part' of the cemetery you were buried in, ie either Islington or St Pancras ground. Jan

Thanks Janette. I've written to the Islington Cemetery, I'll write to the St Pancras one too now. As for Abney Park - I've looked on that site, and no she's not there. Thanks for the suggestion though

I agree that St Pancras Cemetery (Finchley) is probably your best bet. Quite a lot of my relatives are buried there. The only other London Cemetery that I can think of that is reasonably close to Holborn is Abney Park. I haven't got the link to hand, but if you do an internet search you'll find it. All their graves are listed on line. I'm not planning to go to Finchley for a while, but if I can I don't mind making enquiries for you when I'm there. Jan

Thanks Chris and Helen. She wasn't Jewish. Her husband remarried 6 months after her death in a Roman Catholic church HOWEVER, they weren't Catholic either. On the birth cert of other of their children (in Germany) it said that there were 'evangelisch' which I think just means Christians. My nana never mentioned a Jewish link, and boy did she talk!! Thanks for the info. Will check it out, Chloe

Christopher, you couldnt possibly have a look for me for my elusive great grandad please - George Robert Cheal born 1852 died probably in the 30's. Would have been St Olaves Rotherhithe I would have thought. Be grateful if you find him.

Chloe Holborn is in central London. By the end of the 19th century, people who died in central London were being buried further afield - the St Marylebone Cemetery for example is in Finchley, North London and the St Pancras cemetery isn't in St Pancras! My great grandmother died aged 42 at 9 Seabrooke Place, Holborn on 12th February 1912. Any idea where she might be buried? Any large cemeteries near there? If so, does anyone know where I might find the contact details for the cemetery? I doubt very much that she has a gravestone, but I would still really love to visit her grave. Chloe
