THANKS FOR ALL REPLIES. VERY HELPFUL. HIS DEATH REGISTERED KINGSTON UPON THAMES, SURREY. AREA HE LIVED WAS CLAYGATE. ON DEATH CERTIFICATE SAYS 'CAUSING THE BODY TO BE BURIED' SO I PRESUME HE WAS BURIED NOT CREMATED.

Pamela, if you were to say the place your Grandfather died it would be helpful.

Contact with the cemeteries dept of the local council may give you the answer.

Pam The death certificate will only tell you where he died. He may be buried locally, but then again not. After the 1890s, he might have been cremated. Do you know if he had a spouse buried somewhere? My great-grandfather died in Finchley, North London, but was taken back to be buried in churchyard in Norfolk near his wife. If there wasn't a family plot, you can find the cemetery by googling to get the local council website. Sometimes these have just a list of cemeteries and contact addresses/phone numbers, others have online searching available. Nell

I have obtained death certificate and would now like to find cemetary where my grandfather is buried. Any ideas how I would go about this. It is not in an area I am familiar with. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks Pam.
