Hi Vickie, I think that Audrea is such an uncommon first name that James and Audrea are almost certainly her grandparents.....hope you find her baptism with local help. Joan

Thanks Joan That record has been put on there by another Aussie researcher, no one here has found any leads for years, I think most have given up. Vickie

Thanks everybody. Yes I have noted those christenings and there is a gap where another child couldve been born to a Mathew & Ann Appleyard, Audrey named her first daughter Ann, (had 4) she only had one son, so he was named John after his father/paternal?g.father. Regards Vickie

Thanks for looking. I have checked for Appleby, also Appleford as that was on her marriage certificate, no luck there. A lady from a genie forum a few years back felt they may be from Clee as there was a James and Audrea there had children from 1738-49, who may have been her grandparents, but I have found nothing since. I will keep checking Familysearch in case there is an update. Thanks again Vickie

I had a look at the Broughton batch numbers and there aren't any Appleyard births. So maybe she came from somewhere nearby...was she a servant, perhaps. At least Lincolnshire seems the county. Have you looked for any Applebys in Lincoln on the IGI? Good luck Joan

I have an ancestor named Audrey Appleyard, also known as Ordery, born about 1777, who, at the age of 21 was convicted in 1798 transported to Australia in 1800. Her court record says she was single and from Broughton. She stole some clothing from one Thomas Neal (maybe her employer??) and spent 2 years in Kirton House of Correction before being transported. I have been unable to find out anything about her, other people researching the same family have this problem too!! It appears she didnt exist before 1788. Her Aussie marriage and death certificates give no info at all that could help. She may have been from Clee, see post below. Thanks in advance Vickie
