Hi Steve, Thanks for the reply, I have used Familyrelatives website before, but I have problems with this site from time to time a bit tempremantal, timing out problems, sometimes it's wonderful other days a total pain lol. So the BMD index is free to search and view the images? I'm about to do a search for a recent birth but unsure if the year it occured so wanted to try and find the cheapest online site, if that makes sense. Of course if I could get to the library I could search for free, but not much chance of that for the next few months, little ones don't sit very quietly in Libraries do they. Thanks for your help Becky

I recommend using www.familyrelatives.org instead. You buy credits, during 1866-1920 period on that website you can search the BMD Index. It has transribed the 1866-1920 section of the index so you can search for particular names/places etc. All 1837online.com did was to put all the images online, so you can only search for a surname and will get every person on that page, from that quarter of that year. If you get what I mean. You may not get who you want (and I assure you if you don't know when you're looking for and where etc you won't find a thing and would have wasted money on it). My advice (I'm not a spokesperson for familyrelatives lol!) is use familyrelatives. But only if what you need is during 1866-1920. If it isn't the rest are pretty much the same. If need more, don't hesitate to ask. Steve

Thanks for the reply Peter, I had noted the coverage but it does cover what I want, unfortunatley it doesn't mention how much it will cost to view the images or if it does I cannot find it, just wondered if anyone had used it. Thanks Becky

I can't comment on the cost having not compared the two but coverage is less at present than 1837 on-line * Birth records from 1837-2002 * Marriages from 1900-2002 * Deaths from 1880-2003

Has anyone used the BMD index website? How good is it as opposed to 1837 online is it easier to find the results or cheaper? Have only just come across it and was wondering if anyone else has any experience of the site before I buy a subscription. The address is:http://www.bmdindex(.)co.uk/
