Question about the IGI

It's been bugging me for a while. If the IGI holds baptisms for a place 1577-1755, does this mean that it is complete for those years??

Hi Chloe, Not necessarily. It's only as good as the person transcribing it. If he/she couldn't read the entries they don't get transcribed. Or only some years may have been transcribed. There is one batch where only the male baptisms are recorded. The IGI is a total mess as far as some of my families are concerned and the actual parish records are different. Gwynne
