Try a google search - came up with thousands of results. The very first one looks brill: http://www(.)musicals101(.)com/musichall(.)htm Remove brackets first. Actually it seems an interesting site for anyone interested in the period.

I have been following an ancestor through various towns in the 1800s. As he was a musician, I thought Music Halls may be a good line to follow. I have tried aol searches on music halls but cannot come up with any useful leads. If anyone out there can make some useful suggestions I would be very grateful. Karen Brilliant you folks...I'll get on with it...hubby can have beans again for supper!
