If you have the marriage certificate - does it show his age ? it may also show whether he was Irish, German, Swiss or American !! but firstly the age will at least show you the probably year of birth then you will be able to discount England/Wales if necessary. The Cert will also show his job which could be another pointer.

Chris, you need to tell us a little more. Do you know the ages at marriage of this couple? If they are now dead, have you ages at death to confirm when they were born? Were they born before 1901? Where have you looked for their births?

hi i wonder if any one can advise me i can find a marriage but cant find there birthsthey are for a john grothier and louisa perkins if any one can help thank you chris ps there married in sept 1899 in mile end old town london middlesex has far has im aware they lived in stepney london all there lives ive looked on birth deaths and marriages also ancestry thanks chris
