Twins Birth Certificates

I note that your twins actually aren't twins after all but in case it helps someone else I thought I'd mention that I sent for a suspected twin's birth certificate having found 2 young babies in a burial record. I wanted to know the mother's maiden name and on my application letter direct to Hereford Record Office, I said that I was trying to ascertain whether Daniel and John were twins.Like yours they were same page and volume entries. When Daniel's birth certificate arrived, enclosed was a slip of paper noting, 'NB, Daniel was a twin', so I had 2 for the price of 1 really.

Oh that's handy to know Sam - I need that many certificates that will save me some money! Thanks Debby

Sorry everyone - wild goose chase! The Henry is James cousin - drat! The lady who sent me the large tree has mixed this up I think! Debby

You could send for Henry's cert and use the parents names as a checking point. That way if they are different parents, it will only cost you £3 instead of £7. Sam

Hi, sounds to me that your thinking aloud is straight thinking. Good luck. Keith

Keith They are on the same page, same volume, same quarter! But if I send for James who I know is mine and there is a time on his certificate it still won't prove Henry is his twin BUT if I send for Henrys and there is a time on his certificate and his parents are the same as James, I'll know for sure! Sorry I'm thinking aloud! Debby

The straight answer is no. Each child has his own birth certificate. If he/she is a twin it is normally obvious as they have a time of birth as well as the date. You would also expect to find them on the same page of the same volume in the same quarter. What is the surname and I'll have a look. Regards Keith

I think I've just solved a mystery! There were 3 children of my gg grandfather that I didn't know about or suspected but wasn't quite sure. Anyway to cut a long story short, one of them, Henry is showing as born abt 1864. Another one, James William who I wasn't sure about but just proved he is mine was born Mar 1/4 1863. Just looked at others on the page and there is a Henry! If I send for the birth cert of James who I know is mine and if Henry is his twin will they be on the same certificate? Debby
