I have many many hours without success looking for: William John Thomas Wilkins born c.1795 Mary Wilkins (wife) formerly Williams WJT and Mary married in Buildwas, Shropshire in 1820. They had a daughter Emma in 1841 whose birth is registered in St George, Birmingham, so I have been searching for them in Shropshire and Birmingham. However, yesterday I found the following children on the IGI all of whom have WJT and Mary Wilkins as parents and who were all christened in Cathedral, Manchester. Mary Ann born c.1833 (possibly known as Ann) William born c.1835 Elizabeth born c. 1836 Emma got married in Manchester Cathedral in 1866 so I’m now thinking that she may have born during a short stay in Birmingham and that I have been on yet another wild goose chase. What do you reckon? I guess it's time for another trip to the FRC and some 1851/1861 Manchester look-ups. Louise

William John and Mary are very common names, but the Wilkins as a 3rd name is a little unusual. I think you will have to view the originals to check. nell

Thanks for your replies. I agree Nell. It does seem quite a coincidence that William John Thomas Wilkins lists all of his names for the birth of these children. There can't be too many of them running around at the same time with wives called Mary. Oh well! Back to the records then. Louise

Thanks Georgina. Emma was definitely born in St George, Birmingham as I have her birth certificate. However after yesterday's discovery it now seems that the rest of the family may be from Manchester. All very puzzling! Louise

I found William and Elizabeth's baptisms in the PRs>this not an awful lot of information but it does give their dobs states that WJT was a cashier living in Chorlton On Medlock. As yet I have not found him in any of the Manchester Census returns.I also found the 1866 wedding and have know found them on the 1871 Census living at Queens Rd in the St George's District. Hi Gerard, Fantastic! I was just checking for my FRC thread and saw this. Thank you so much for looking. If it's not too much please can you let me know the details you found on the PRs. I'll also take another look at the 1871 on Ancestry - I missed them before. You are a star! Louise

Hi Ged. Thanks again. The marriage details match exactly what info I already have on Alexander and Emma so it's great to get additional confirmation and I wonder who the witnesses were??? I am however more than a little perplexed by the DOBs for William and Elizabeth as they are only a few months apart. Even my basic knowledge of biology tells me something's wrong here! Louise
