Ian thanks my mum was their only child and alas do not know his date of death but will give it a go. Hopefully have got his DOB. Sue

Sue, Sounds like you are now the surviving next of kin! Check the MOD as to what proof they require (death certs of the serviceman and his next of kin) unless of course there are uncles and aunts of yours (mother's siblings) who would qaualify as next of Kin. Then you would need their permission first. Ian

Peter thanks for info. Will give that a try only problem is next of kin as both grandparents and my mother (their child) have died. Can't find MOD address under links but will get it via internet. Thanks again Sue

Yes you can. You need proof of next of kin or Letter of agrement from them, for you to get his records. his service number and as much detail as pos. Contact the MOD. (address is on your Home page.) and send info.

I have just received my grandparents marriage certificate and on it found my grandfather was a member of the Welsh guards ( i have his rank and number now) at time of marriage 1927. Is there any way I could find out more about his time in the Welsh guards? Any advice greatly appreciated Sue H
