I am trying to find some information about the Bridge Inn at Winchelsea. Could anyone give me a date when it was built? Many thanks, Jackie

I tried Googling for this information. Couldn't find a date the Bridge Inn was built, but did find a phone number for the Inn - 01797 224302. Maybe the present owners would be able to tell you if you gave them a ring. Kath. x

I did the same as Kath. and also noted the number of the museum 01797 226382. Do you know Winchelsea? It is a very small place. By Googling I saw that someone on a message board was asking about The Bridge Inn,where an ancestor was innkeeper.

Hi Kath and Gwyneth, Many thanks to you both - I had tried googling but couldn't find a date but will give them a ring. No, I've never been to Winchelsea - I am trying to help a friend in USA whose ancestors came from there. Thanks again to you both for all your help - it's much appreciated. Best wishes, Jackie

Hi Dawn, Many thanks for your reply - hubby's not far out! I phoned them this afternoon and was told it was built in 1545 so well done to hubby! Best wishes, Jackie
