Hi Steve, yes I agree with Pam. I've founds loads of mine in that particular section on 1837 and you can order all the certs here in the usual way from GRO, Overseas Section. Incidentally, GRO told me that even if your ancestors were in the forces but married here, it's still the Overseas Section at the GRO. And they're quick too. Good luck with the search. Jan :-))

On 1837online there is a section on marriages abroad which includes army marriages at that time ¨within British lines¨ . Do you think that Gibraltar would come under that heading- presumably it was being used as a British base. You do mean that he was in the army there, don´t you? Pam

How can I look up a marriage in Gibraltar during WW1. My Grandfather married a local during the war and I'm trying to trace the maternal line. Thanks Steve
