You will not get a cert for 1841 as state records did not start until 1864. Google Galway for further info and save up for a holiday in Dublin to see the Parish Records at Dublin Library or go on a trip to Galway, find a B&B close to the area your ancestor came from, that will pave the way for you to see the PP and ask nicely to see the records whilst slipping him a small gratuity for his church fund. Galway is a lovely area for a holiday though it is a county as well as a city so you will need to know the Townland he came from to be able to research. Without Townland you can go no further. Google to find more. For more info key in Ireland/Irish into box where it says message and you will find much info to help you with Irish history. Also front of Genes site you can scroll down for more info. Janet

Hi I have at last traced my matenal gt grandfather`s death, and also know now where in Ireland he was born, can anyone advise me on where to purchase an Irish birth certficate. All I know is he was born in Galway, but do I also need a parish? do not know that. Only information I have is his father`s name, and an estimated year of birth 1841, will this be enough info to obtain a cert?? Thanks
