does anyone know how i can find out about a relle who was at sea at the time of the 1871 cesus, not in any other after that as states wife was widow,any help appreciated

The death is usually registered in the home port when the vessel returns, I think. nell

Kathleen If you can be a little more precise. Was your ancestor in the Navy? Was your ancestor in the Merchant Navy? Was your ancestor on an ordinary sea voyage? Going from where to where? Did your ancestor die on this voyage? If not do you know when/where/how he died? Depending on your own knowledge and research to date might help others to give you a better answer. Janet

Jenny BMD at sea are at the FRC in London but are now also on 1837 online which you can access for free but may then have to pay for further info.Janet
