I've been obsessed with finding my grandfathers family these past two weeks, but today I just feel like I don't want to see another record or picture...!! Hope it comes back again, think I'll give it a break for the weekend... Do some housework! Has this happened to anyone else? Annie

I try hard not to mention it, especially when out with friends - they get that tell-tail glazed over expression and I wonder how much longer they will be my friends....... My daughter says when I pop off the whole lot will go in the bin! None of the family are interested.... Yet I still can't keep quiet when I've had a breakthrough. Wish it would stop me eating though - how do I acieve that? I seem to eat more when stressed so will soon be like a barrage ballooon lol! Alice

My problem is I'm doing a big family tree for my Gran and Grandad's 60th Wedding Anniversary at the end of June and have to find at least birth and death years for all the rellies. However, I keep finding new people in the family and have to go through the whole process again! And then it's working out who I want on eg all the cousins and stuff. It's hell!

Hi joanne Stck 'em all on and impress! Also you may find that when the oldies (no offence meant - I reckon I'm considered one by many!) get chatting you will find all sorts of snippits dragged up by the memory of a name or a place. Sounds lovely Good luck with it Alice

Couldn't stay off completely.... you feel like you've got a whole family on this site! Anyway, just to say thank goodness there are people who are as interested as us, and not like my hubby who isn't a family person, not interested in any of this. Quite sad really when you think that a lot of families have these sort of people in them and the history never gets passed down the line. So I feel I'm blessed and it's important for our children. Anniex definitely off now

Take a break,go do dusting, ironing, silly stuff like that. Or look on the message board's and get a laugh from them lol. There is alway's one family to track down while you are waiting on a new lead. I have found I get sooooooo, interested in a 'branch' that keeps me busy (nosey lol) There is alway's something going on. Marion

I just love it when I come across msgs like these - makes me feel normal again! I too am going through a 'slump' so have been keeping busy going back over what I do have, sorting files, gave me some new angles, so hopefully by the time I get certificates I ordered today my house will be in order. Happy hunting in 'our' reality, Laurie

Annie I think it is temporarily possible to feel a bit satiated - a bit like eating too much chocolate. But like chocolate the pull is still there. However, I am very disturbed about the number of people who seem to think that if they gave up genealogy they would do more housework. LIFE IS FOR LIVING NOT FOR SCRUBBING/CLEANING! I know these things need doing and that if we don't do them, probably no-one else will, but its not something you want to think about doing as a treat!!!! nell
