Hedworth is in South Tyneside, so probably was in Durham years ago, so the registration wouldn't be in Carlisle. Kath. x |

Short answer - NO. Longer answer - have a look at http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/index.htm for which places are in which registration districts 1837-1930. Hedworth is South Shields Reg. District. South Shields Created 1st July 1837. Sub-districts : Jarrow; South Shields; Westoe. GRO volumes : XXIV (1837-51); 10a (1852-1930). Boldon, Boldon Colliery, Harton, Hebburn, Hedworth, Jarrow, Monkton, South Shields, Westoe, Whitburn. |

If you haven't got a birth certificate are you absolutely certain the person was born in Hedworth. Sometimes we think that someone is from a particular place because they have lived there since they were very young, but they could have been born somewhere else and just moved to the place we think they were born.
