The National Archives has lots of online leaflets about sources of information. Info on police records Here: www.catalogue.nationalarchives.gov.uk/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=104 mainly about the Met, but info about sources for other forces is given further down. If your policeman was in the Met see my thread on the REcords board. I may be able to find his warrant number, which you need for finding records at Kew. Info on railway workers leaflet: www.catalogue.nationalarchives.gov.uk/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=124 nell |

Would like to know where to find info on staff records. I know one ancestor was an engine driver and the other a police constable. How do I find staff records and what do they include? Need records from mid-1800's onwards. Any help much appreciated. |
