How do i go about tracing someone before 1837? Thanks in advance

You'll need to look in Parish Records for baptism's as there are no birth certificates. You could look on the IGI on www.familysearch.org to see if their details are on there. Kath. x

The only ones you can view at your local record office are those for the county you live in. If your ancestor came from another county, you would need to go to that record office. If you can't get there, you can order films of the records from your local LDS Family History Centre (if the LDS has filmed them). Find your nearest LDS FHC at http://www.familysearch(.)org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp It might be a good idea to try a search on the International Genealogical Index at http://www.familysearch(.)org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp first, so you have an idea of which parish records you need.
