Anna Report 10 Mar 2005 12:40

Ive received a cutting from a newspaper dated 1928.Its an Inquest report on a 5 year old boy. What I wanted to know is,does the word 'dirty' in it mean what I think it means,or can it read as 'sick'in this instance? It says 'In reply to the foreman,Witness said they always used their own judgement about calling the doctor in such cases as deceased's.He was such a dirty child that is the doctor was called every time he was dirty he(the doc) would be on the premises two or three times a day' The boy was my nans brother, and he was in Cottage Homes On the bright side,I also received grave numbers for my nans 3 siblings who died in childhood, and whom we knew nothing about til last year Anna :-)

Hiya Peter, He did actually die from food poisoning.Ive got his death cert. They mention in this report I have that his vomit smelt strongly, but nothing about diarrhea. He ate a kipper given to him by some woman on his way to school, but thats all that is mentioned Thanks Anna :-)

Given the circumstances I would say that the 'dirty' refers to the amount of times he soiled himself (bless him) I agree with Peter, Diarrhoea problem
