Hi All A Calendar man could work in a laundry or a paper works. A calendar is a machine with heavy rollers that paper or linen passes though to smooth. Like a huge mangle. Well thats the simple way of describing it anyway. Vivienne

My husband has a banksman in his tree, mining family again. But the term is still used today mainly on building sites and there will be a sign up saying no lorries turning without a banksman, meaning someone has to see him back out into the road. Ros

Banksman....... . . Mine worker at pithead unloading coal from the cages Most of my lot were miners, nearest thing to them being rich I think lol Marion

I was looking through the lists of old jobs I have, and saw what might be a way of sending your self off on the wrong track when reseaching your relles. ..Some jobs seem self explanatery. BUT beware they are not. Exsample ..A CARD MAKER.. is nothing to do with Bithday cards or the making of Cardboard he in fact makes Combs for the Wool Industry. And A DONKEY MAN dose not breed or rear Donkeys He drives a Carrage or Passenger vehicle. SO CHECK BEFOR YOU GO ON.
