I Think i have found a marriage cert to my G G G Grandparents. George Sutton and a Sarah Ann Coomber in 1841. BUT the marriage took place in Camberwell, London and all the info i have points to them both being born in Sevenoaks, kent and living in that area. They also had a child in Sevenoaks, Kent in 1848. I don't know whether to chance getting it or not - i have searched on 1837 online from 1837-1848 and this is the only match i have. Coomber is not a common surname..In some of the Quarters Coomber is not even listed!!

Do you have the family in 1851, to see where the children were born, besides the one in 1848? You could ask for a check to be done on father's christian name, but only if you were absolutely certain what that name was. I'd go for it. Anyone heading for London from Kent would almost certainly pass through Camberwell, and who would blame them for turning round and going back to Sevenoaks!

Hi Brenda & Crista. thanks for the advice, I am going to go for it!. Unfortunately i dont have the family for the 1851 & none of his children are listed as being born in London. However the child whom i mentioned born in 1848 was married in Sevenoaks but his wife was born at London Wall and also they moved down to West London around 1881. I will know if it is the right cert straight away by the occupation. Fingers crossed for 'coach maker' or 'WheelWright!!'

Chris, Sevenoaks would only have been a quite short rail trip from south London.
