Thanks very much Shelli and Crista. I'm going to check out those websites. Really appreciate your help, as it means I can check out this family on the Census. Best wishes Natalie |

Natalie in 1830, it is called Stoney Street. Runs into Upper Stoney St. Also the road bends in the same way in 1830 as it does in 1862!!! I found it by locating another road that remained the same name ( Philpot St ) and by the Scottish church!!!! |

Janet no worries it's a great site... you can trace a place right back.. you just need one road/landmark to remain the same. I traced one of mine right back to fields as the next road never changed it's name!!!! |

Natalie it is in St george in the east Found it on 1862 map www.motco(.)com/map/ remove the brackets... once on site click on London 1862 on next screen on the left is a seperate list, from this choose road and street index. This takesa while to load!!!!! then scroll down to Upper Storer St(14, 18) Click on it. A map will appear in the main screen. You'll have to scroll, left, right, up and down to see it all. Upper Storer St is sort of in the top left hand corner just above the Commercial Road, just below ST Wycliffe school. Hope this helps Shelli |

Hi Crista Doesn't give a Parish, but Sub-District is Mile End Old Town. Assume this is the Parish?? Having a bad night! Natalie |

Just ordered a birth certificate and can't make out the street name. Tried 'Lost London Street' but couldn't access streets starting with 'U' or 'S'. Anyone got any suggestions? Cert. says: 5 Upper Slo... or Sho... Street could be Shore or Sloane or Stone or maybe ends in 'n' rather than 'e'. Looks different both times it is mentioned!! Have tried magnifying without success. Any ideas welcome!!!! Especially if Brenda Hawkins (eagle-eyed streetfinder) is reading this thread!! It's a Richard and Harriet Hawkins (daughter Eliza) that I'm trying to place!! Thanks Natalie |
