I have found two marriages on Pallot's. I can view the names of the bride and groom in black window, but when I click the go to Image it always says page requested not found. Is it only the index slip we can view ? Karen

Thank you to all, it's very clear now. Heather, didn't realise you could export documents from Ancestory.. I've been copying them and taking them into Paint Shop Pro8 - cutting them down to size (as we all need now and again!!) and then putting them into a word document with lots of notes about the relation ships etc. Just thought If I did it this basic way I would understand it.. anniex

Annie, Ive been quite lucky on my searches in the Pallots Marriages because most of mine are in the London area. It is great when you find a match because on ancestry you can often actually view the original document and export it to your FT2005.

Both Pallots Marriage & Baptism indexes are available on Ancestry. This is Ancestry's description of the two databases: Pallot's Index to Marriages is essential for researchers with London ancestry, as it covers all but two of the 103 parishes in the old City of London. The dates span the time from 1780 to the onset of General Registration in 1837. The more than 1.7 million marriage entries come mainly from London and Middlesex, but also include entries from 2500 parishes in 38 counties outside of London--many not available in other sources. Also included are several records from counties in Wales. With indexing beginning in 1813, several of the registers transcribed in Pallot's index no longer exist, having been destroyed or lost. Pallot's Index to Baptism once contained more than 12 million records, but most were destroyed in World War II. The 200,000 surviving records are a valuable resource for those seeking ancestors in the Greater London area. The dates range from 1780 to three years after the onset of General Registration in 1837. These parish christening and baptismal registrations (with some birth dates recorded) cover at least 22 parishes in London and Middlesex, around 27 other parishes, and there are many other miscellaneous entries. They usually give the name of the child and parentage, the parish of baptism and the date.

Pallots, is short for Pallots Marriage Index, I think that all the marriages are in the London area, but I may be wrong. Put 'Pallots Marriage Index' in Google and you will be able to find it, Mary
