Old road names for Hackney where to find please

I seem to remember Hackney Council has an online archive. Might be just photographs of old Hackney, but there might be someone on their you could contact. Might be worth a try! Natalie |

Hi Darryl thank you someone very kindly looked up the 1891 census for me this afternoon it was for a family in Hackney and they could not read the address is was something ??Went Rd and I thought I might be able to find it somewhere the only name I could think of was Derwent Rd. Regards Margaret |

You can try the Lost London Streets web site if you have names of streets that no longer appear in the AtoZ (put the phrase in a search engine to find the site address). Alternatively you can visit the London Metropolitan Archive where all London street name changes can be looked up in dedicated reference books. If you have a specific street name and rough date, publish it on this board and I will try a look up in my Victorian street atlas for you. Darryl |
