If you are on the home page of rootsweb - at the top it says things like family trees mailing lists message boards ... etc ... - Click on mailing lists. Hope this works. Joy |

You could also order the parish records at your local LDS centre. Crista |

If I were you, I would first subscribe to the rootsweb mailing list for Cheshire (it is free) and ask someone there if anyone can help. You can find it by going into rootsweb*.*com - remove asterisk - then into mailing lists for countries and counties, then Cheshire. Subscribing - send an email to CHESHIRE-D-request at sign rootsweb*.*com with the single word subscribe in the message subject and body. Hope this helps. :-) Joy PS sorry cannot put the symbol for the at sign here! |

Hi, Thanks for all replies. I am looking for the Stockport area, so will need to organise a weekend away, as it seems I need to see the actual parish records. Had a slim hope that there might be something on-line! Cate :) |

Cate, The library in the town that she was to be married in may hold the records. I know mine does and it's only a small library. c x |

Hi, If you go to the local records office for the area she nearly married in they should have the parish records available to view. You could give them a call first to check. Good luck Kx |

Hi, Does anyone know where I can get copies of wedding banns?? Let me explain: Mygrandmother was left at the altar, (the best man brought a note from the Grooms mother saying that she thought he was too young too marry!!!), she was pregnant at the time with my Dad. Consequently my Grandfathers name is not on my Dad's birth certificate! Someone on here suggested I find the banns to find out his name! The Church where they were to be married was pulled down years ago - where will the banns be now? Cate :-S |
