These parish registers are on micro fiche at the Hampshire Record Office in Winchester and probably available in Portsmouth itself. St Thomas is the Cathedral. Have you tried asking for a Record Office lookup on the Records Board? Sorry, I'm in Kent or I would look for you.

I am hopefully wondering(!) if anyone has easy access to these Parish Registers for the year 1857. I have found an extracted baptism on the IGI and there is an OUTSIDE chance that it is the baptism I am looking for. I am hoping there is more information on the PR than is given on the IGI, such as an occupation for the father etc. I would be really, really grateful (grovel grovel) Marjorie
