Hi Folks Have been looking at 1871 census for relative John Fawcett he was born in Pateley Bridge Yorkshire, on the census he is lodging in an area called Clifton and Norwood. Does anyone know if this is still Yorkshire and if so where abouts. Many thanks.

Part of York is called Clifton. Don't know about Norwood though. Try Google? Anne

Looking at the census image it would appear that Clifton at one time prior to 1871 was separate from Norwood, but both in Yorkshire, as some people on the image have Clifton as their place of birth and some have Norwood, but both say Yorkshire. However at the top of the page it says the township is at that time called Clifton WITH Norwood. I would imagine that today it is just called Clifton. Kath. x
