My eldest son has a city centre apartment. On two occasions now he has called the police when he has seen two guys going through the communal rubbish skips for the 30 flats. On the second occasion the police actually turned up (3 a.m. in the morning) and took away the two guys. When my son rang the police station in the morning he was told they could not be charged they were looking for something they had lost! Erm, they lived 5 miles away, why did they think whatever they lost would be in the communal bin of my sons flats? I have given him a shredder too. They are only £10 in argos at the moment.

I have had the same problems. I got so worried that I closed my eBay account down 2 weeks ago but I am still receiving these scam e-mails.

Unbelievably, I have just received another one in same style - I have bought this item, when will it be delivered? I have forwarded it straight to ebay.

Ros, yes its spybot search and destroy but it just freezes and comes up with error, so not a lot of use! As I said AVG7 screens my mails for viruses but I just wanted to treble check for anything else that may be spying on my actions.

Yea i know u cant be to careful nowadays, I like the ones saying that they have come into some money and need to get it out of the country or their husbands family will get it. then they want ur bank details and promise to give u half lol i think when people ask for card details we should make up one and give them that, maybe they would get caught then giving phoney details lol Tony

Tony LOL! Actually, I have just looked at my mails and blow me, another loony one from some weird name saying I am making arrangements to come to the UK to see you, please reply immediately! What the hell do people do this for? No doubt that would have been another, give me your account or something if I had replied. I have just been to ebay and reported the scams and also changed my password, just in case. Luckily I used paypal with a limit of £100. ROZ is mailwasher different to ad-aware? Is it a free download?

Hi My wife had a similar problem. After she joined up with ebay she recieved an email saying her account had been suspended and she had to re-submit her details, which she did and hey presto credit card cloned and used. Probably by another woman going by the amount of shopping she done on it :) Thankfully barclaycard refunded the money. And my wife learned an important lesson. I think she would have realised had this not had come the same day as she joined. oh well never mind a lesson learned. to be honest i should have let them keep the card cos they spent less than my wife Tony

Hi I had two emails yesterday from Ebay.:- During our regularly scheduled account maintenance and verification procedures, we have detected a slight error in your billing information. This might be due to either of the following reasons: 1. A recent change in your personal information ( i.e. change of address). 2. Submitting invalid information during the initial sign up process. 3. An inability to accurately verify your selected option of payment due to an internal error within our processors. Please update and verify your information by clicking the link below: It also stated if i did not confirm my details i would not be able to purchase or sale any more items from ebay. I did click on the link and there was a page which looked like an ebay page asking me to re enter all my details like name ,log on name, password and card details etc. Ive sent these to ebay and ive not had any reply as of yet. Please be careful. Sarah

I have got used to getting all the Nigerian/Phillipian scams and the bank ones everytime I bid for something on e-bay and delete them automatically. However, yesterday I checked my mails and there was one apparently through e-bays website with 'a question for seller.' I didnt know what this could be as I have never sold a thing on e-bay but there was this message saying 'I have paid for this item and not received it - when will it be delivered???' I was confused and I wondered if this lady had sent me the email by mistake, so I replied saying, sorry you have sent this to the wrong person. But in the body of the mail which looked authentically through the ebay site, was a link with 'you can view this item on this link'. So curiosity getting the better of me and wondering what on earth she thought I had sold, I clicked on the link. The link took me to page unavailable (still looking totally authentic) and had the usual suggestion, click on the ebay link and log in. It was only because my son was visiting and I thought I cant be bothered with all that palavar, I will look later, that I gave up and went back to my email box. Surprise, the mail I had sent to this lady had been returned, undeliverable, sender not known. This morning in a sudden flash of clarity I realised that this was a scam and had I clicked on the page unavailable link to log into my ebay account, no doubt that would have been a false page and the senders would have had my ebay username and password! My gawd, these people are getting clever. No doubt I would then have found out in a few days time that my name and account had been used to buy items.
