Peter I've got children in my family tree who are named after dead siblings. One of them had two elder brothers who died, so I guess for him it was 3rd time lucky. nell

I've seen a family in my rellies, they had a child, named it, year or so later theres another child, same sex, same name. This happens about 5 times, so either the original child with that name died, and they had a 'replacement' so to speak, or just liked to keep things neat with pairs of children! Lisa

On my Gloucester burial register thread on Records, the clergyman made a note that in one family of 14 children, the parents had buried 9.
