Sometimes you can find partial transcriptions if you google the place you want plus '1851' or whichever year. There's some available on FreeCen, plus lots for Cornwall, bits for Gloucestershire & Warwickshire, etc. There's a name index for 1851 Cambridgeshire on the Cambridgeshire Family History Site. 1851 Bucks census is on the Family History Online site. nell

Sorry - I forgot to give the freecensus address, but see someone else has kindly given it. As well as the 1881 census at the Mormons website, there is the 1880 American and Canadian, I believe. If you can get to a Records Office, or to a large main library that stocks the census on microfiche, or to the Family Records Centre in London, you can search the census that way, on fiche or film. It can be hard work, but rewarding when you have found them! Happy hunting. :) Joy

Hi Amy Try this site (remove the brackets first) http://freecen.rootsweb(.)com/ There is some 1891 on there and some other years. Depends on wherabouts you are looking in UK. Good luck Sue xx

No it doesn't. However, the best board to post for look ups is the Records Office board, people don't really have much access or look at the Trying To Find board. There are people on there who are happy to help, including myself.

Thanks but does the 1881 website have any other years on it?

Certainly there are some free Cornish ones, also the 1881 familysearch(.)org. Joy

Does any one know if there are any websites where you can look up census records for free. There probably isnt but its so frustrating. I cant pay to look at them on Ancestry so i have to rely on the 'trying to find' message board but its like im not doing any of the looking at all which takes the fun out of things. Amy
