Just wanted to say thanks for everyones help. I should get the marriage certificate next week ( i've sent my mum on a mission to dewsbury) I was begining to think i would never find my great granddad but it now seems possible. So a BIG THANK YOU to EVERYONE. Karen

sorry - shoulda said, in FreeBMD there are none transcribed, the only name is Goodall. Order the certs I guess or a long trawl thru 1837Online ... Marriages Mar 1905 GOODALL Ralph Dewsbury 9b 787

It's easier to find someone if they died I'm afraid. You could try the commonwealth war graves commission site. www(.)cwgc(.)org Or if you knw where he was living he might be listed on a roll of honour, try www(.)roll-of-honour(.)com Good luck June

Hi June How can i find out if he was away in the services. My mum thinks he was in the forces but doesnt know which one and i have no other family from his side to ask. Karen

Hi there just a thought. Could he have joined the services? My grandad was in South Africa in the Boer War for the 1901 census and wasn't discharged until 1913. Good luck June

Please help I am trying to find my great granddad. I know his name was RALPH GOODALL (his name is on my graddads birth certificate) and there is a RALPH GOODALL on the 1891 census born about 1877 and living at home in heckmondwkie with his family. His father was called ADAM but I cant find RALPH on the 1901 census. How can i find out if this is the right one. Can anyone give me any tips PLEASE. Many thanks Karen
