Hi Tony and Heidi This site doesn't allow you to post addresses with .*co or .*com in them, without either putting brackets or an * between the . an the letters. Any addresses that have .org are fine. The only part of the address that needs the * or () is the .*co or .*com bit! Christine

Hi Gerri, I'm afraid I didn't keep the URLs but I did a google search on historical costumes or something very similar a few weeks ago and found a few interesting links. I was able to download some good images of early 19th century dress for my niece's school project. Have a look. I'm sure if you scout around you'll find some helpful images. Louise

Hi Geri have a look at this website http(://)www(.)cartes(.)freeuk(.)com/time/date(.)htm remove brackets It shows clothes through the years plus has tips on how to date photographs. Tony

Try this site. I found it very useful in dating old photographs and seeing what was the fashion at the time. http://www.cartes.freeuk.com/time/date.htm If the site doesn't work, let me know. I only ask because I don't understand why people post web sites here but have brackets involved and then tell you to remove them ????

If you go to Google and first click 'images' and then type into the search box 1830's photo, it will take you to a page where if you pick off the third image you can see some wedding dresses from that time, although no ordinary clothes for the ordinary working person. Kath. x

Not sure about on the net, but the local library has lots of books on Victorian fashion. The very earliest precursors of photographs do cover this period. I have a wonderful book of victorian fashion photographs and am staggered how the plainest women loaded their figures with ribbons and flowers in styles which patently did not become them. My families, however, would doubtless be wearing clothes rarely washed, seldom darned and probably quite shapeless!

Where do you think I could get pictures of what the country looked like back in 1830s/40s? Id love to know what the clothes looked like back then.. Gerri x
