Enumerators and transcribers get a bit of a bashing on these boards, but I have just been reading a grim book about Stalinist Russia by Martin Amis and here is a passage from it: |

Extrapolating from the growth figures of the 1920s, Stalin said that he expected a new total of 170 million.
