Hi all, Hotlips has messaged me. Her rellies are scots, so not able to check 1837 and too young for scots people. But with a bit of detective work & 1901, fingers crossed we get lucky. Mel in Oz. p.s. i think it maybe a mistake.

I had a similar problem with a birth certificate. All details correct = father's name, father's occupation, street name and number , mothers christian names. But the maiden name was wrong. It was a copy of the original. Karen : (

Could it be that his father died and his mother subsequently remarried. If this happened he may have taken his stepfathers name. What details are given for his father on his marriage certificate?

Do you have the actual Cert's from GRO? Maybe the registrar wrote the wrong name. It happens. :-) Mel in Oz.
