Do you mean Flying Corps? There was a Royal Flying Corps around during WWI, an early version of the Royal Air Force. Demobbed means the demobilisation of the armed forces (after a war etc). If it is WWI, then some military service records are at TNA, Kew and medal cards can be downloaded from http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ for £3.50.

'Corps' is pronounced 'core'. I'm not an expert on military history, there could be other divisions in the armed forces with the same name. Does WWI seem like a possible timeframe for your grandfather to have been in the military?

My son was in the Air Training Corp for several years. From what I can remember of various tests he took, the Flying Corp was part of the army when aircrafts first started to be used for warfare and it was some time later that the RAF was formed as a separate force.

Yes its the Royal Flying Corps which was part of the Army in World War One. When it was separated from the Army it became the newly formed Royal Air Force. My uncle was killed as a young trainee pilot - one story told was that the plane caught fire and as there weren't any parachutes he didn't stand any chance.
