ww1 irish soldier

please can sum1 tell me how to find an irish soldier fighting in ww1 under the british flag? i havent got picture in uniform + i dont know which regiment so really i need the help of God as my grandad seems like the scarlet pimpernell + it looks like he was never born. cant find him anywere cant find him on census coz he mioved to liverpool from kings county in 1925 + last census in uk was 1901 he wasnt here ive searched all irish sites to no avail please sumbody HELP ME im close to giving up now as ive been doing this for 9months and got no further IM DESPERATE PLEASE HELP ME. I cant even go to kew (been advised) as i live near liverpool + have 3 young children

The CWGC have death records for army personnel in both world wars but I'm not sure about surviors. You could chewk out their web site to see. http://www.cwgc.org/cwgcinternet/search.aspx

If he was in eather war he would have a Medal card at Kew this would have his name rank and number and should have his regament. they are listed by name I belve so unless he was J Smith you should be able to norrow it down and find him.
