I have the same problem as you - have looked everywhere. I think that my gg grandparents were never married. She would not have been old enough to marry until about 1857 and he died in 1880. If anyone out there manages to find a marriage for Thomas Gaunt and Margaret Dailey would be a treasure beyond price!!

You say your Fathers certificate states his parents were married in Scotland? I guess from this it is a Scots birth certificate? These usually have the place and date of the marriage on them. (Together with the maiden surname of the mother M.S.)If your grandparents married post 1929 you will not find the certificate on Scotlands people. To obtain a certificate of a marriage in Scotland post that date you would have to go to the GROS. Unfortunately, without a year of the marriage, I think you may come unstuck. Give us some details and we'll see what we can do.

Try looking much earlier than you would expect as well. In my family I have two (at least) couples who were married around 10 years before the birth of their first child. One because the wife had a number of miscarriages the other because the wife had tooth decay/gum disease (no NHS dentist in those days and poor diet) this was apparently causing toxins in her blood which stopped her getting pregnant. She had her first child after all her teeth finally fell out and went on to have 2 more....
