Thanks Maria - 2 of them 3 only live 3 minutes up the road! I think they're elderly (by their names) so I'm hoping they'll know quite a bit about my grandfather and family - strangely enough I know more about great grandfather and back to 1650! I've drafted a letter but I'm not sure how to word it and how much detail to go into? Peter - it's beginning to worry me about how obsessive this hobby is! Debby

Debby Iv'e found 2 of my dads cousins I didn't know existed and one of them still lives in my home town. I had to pluck up the courage to contact them as i knew nothing about them and my dad hardly talked about any of his family. They were both really helpful and I am actually going to the Isle of man at easter to visit one. I'm so excited, he as 5 children, loads of grandchildren and about 4 great grandchildren. Loads more family for me to add to my tree. I'm going to visit the cousin in my home town as soon as I can. Post the letters, I bet you are wonderfully surprised, if you don't, you will never know. best of luck. Maria :)

This may or may not help you in IDing who is in the photos you have, but do not just look at the people in them, look at whats behind them and on them. Do you know the place they are, can you see any thing on or around them that is still in the family today, every thing in the photos are a clue to who were and when thay were taken, So do not give up on what you have but at the same time do not think you can not contact others for help, they might need your photos to compleat there tree, so you will be helping them as much as they help you.

Thanks Jane I'm still plucking up the courage to post 3 letters I've drafted to local addresses who I know for a fact are related - I'm scared they won't be interested - I believe they are my fathers cousins - my mums side were very close but my dads side don't seem to have been. Debby

Debby, If you're saying what I think you are - which is how do you get hold of pics of your 'other' grandparents - it might be worth searching for long lost cousins. Recently, with the same feeling of frustration as you, I wrote an article for a local paper - looking for a long lost line of the family for which I knew the surname. Bingo! Thanks to a bag of photos in a garage - kind of marked 'unknown' - I am about to see pics of my paternal grandparents! Happy hunting! Regs Jane

I have photos of my great aunts and great grandfather & mother from one line of my tree but no others further back - we have some but haven't a clue who they are! On my other lines, I haven't any of even my grandparents. Any ideas? Debby
