If you are going to be using it a lot I would recommend subscribing to ancestry. You get 1871,81 and 91 as well as 1901. You can do 3 months for £25 plus vat (I think that's the right price)

If you get vouchers as used on the National Archives 1901 website, you can buy them in multiples of £5.00 and they last six months, rather than 48 hours. If you have 50p left, that can be rolled forwards onto the next session. The snag is remembering the voucher number and password. The other thing to remember is to go direct to image (75p) rather than transcription (50p) unless you have very good reason not to. Happy hunting

When you open a session on the 1901 census you have 48 hours before it expires. You can choose to suspend the session but it will still run out 48 hours after you set it up. There is a minimum charge of £5 to use the site but you have to set the upper limit.

Please explain how long you have when you pay your money. I dont understand (just tired) how long you have, before it runs out. Also.which do I click off to come back on again ? Thanks Joan
