missing rellies in 1881?

Does anyone have any clues why I can't find my rellies in the 1881 census but I can before and after? A whole bunch of Osgoods have disappeared. The whole family was old enough to live independantly then but none turn up. Has anyone else found the same problem? Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Heidi I had the same thing and posted on here yesterday. The people that helped me eventually found them mistranscribed as Broomfield when they should be Bloomfield. To search, try putting in their first name only, county you're searching in, age and county of birth and see if anything turns up. Good luck Brenda

Elizabeth - I'm trying to find:- William G Osgood b c 1824 Ratcliffe London Frances Osgood b c 1836 Stepney Edwin A Osgood b c 1859 in Poplar, London. William J or S Osgood b c1857 Bromley, Kent. Amy Elizabeth Osgood b 1862 Poplar, London Harry G Osgood b 1864 Poplar Frederick Osgood b 1870 Bromley I can understand losing a whole family if they moved out of the district etc. but the older children were old enough to live independantly and at leat one would have stayed local to Poplar. As I said, I've found then all 1861,1871, 1891 and 1901... still in Poplar or nearby. Perhaps they have been mis-transcribed. I'll try Ancestry again using forenames only...good idea Brenda. Thank you both.

I think I may have found some of them now. The enumerator has only given them initials and some of the details don't exactly match but, overall, they look like the same family. The interesting thing is there is another daughter that I don't know about....maybe the start of another mystery.................? Thanks for all your help everyone.
