Have you found the 'Getting Started' link on your GR Homepage? There are lots of useful ideas & links there. There's also a whole bundle on the thread with 'NEWBIES' in the title - you could find it by putting just that - NEWBIES - in the thread-search function. In general terms there are various places you could look for info on getting a copy - but you shouldn't have to pay more than the basic £7 fee unless you are short of info, in which case it might be £11.50. A combination of FreeBMD, 1837Online, FreeCEN, Familysearch.org, UKBMD.org.uk, and teh 1901 census gets you a long way! - oh, and Google! Christine |
