Hi Can anyone direct me to a website containing the 1881 census in Ireland please? Many thanks Christina

There isn't one. No Irish census has been put online, with the exception of a few fragments for a couple of parishes in various counties. The only surviving complete censuses are 1901 and 1911, and they are in Ireland, unindexed and untranscribed.

Thanks - I didnt realise that! How would I be able to trace my Irish ancestors then? Any advice would be gratefully received Christina

If your ancestors came from the Leinster/Roscommon area you might find them in the 1901 census. This is free to view but is far from complete. The site is www(.)leitrim-roscommon(.)com/index(.)shtml The database is now complete for most of Roscommon and all of Leitrim and limited information available for several other counties. Worth a try as it is being updated from time to time. Kathleen

Two sources for parish records: LDS site and the Ulster Historical Foundation. Both incomplete. 1851 fragments: http://home.iprimus(.)com.au/s_steffensen/1851IrelandCensus.htm IrishOrigins also has various records. In fact, the UHF has more than just transcriptions of parish records if you're willing to subscribe for a year.
