i've just received a marriage cert for my gggrandparents their fathers are down as a private in the national reserves(is this some sort of early home guard). the other father is down as a private in the army service corps i'm not sure what this is.this was in 1915 the marriage took place so would that mean both fathers were on some sort of active service.i',m assuming they were in their forties as the people marrying were both 21. any insite will be gratefully accepted

You cannot assume the bride & grooms' fathers were living. Unless you know they were, obviously. I have marriage certs with father's names & occupations but I know they were deceased, some years before the marriage too. Sam

The Nat Reserves Meens That one had been in the Army but was now out but in the Reserves Which ment he could of been called up at any time for the war, There would be meny factors as to if he was, such as age health ect. The Service Corps meens the other one was in but this Corps delt with works and admin type things so he would not be a fighting man though could of been in France or other war frount working be hind the lines. This one Might??? have a medal card
