Hi was about to order a death cert. today but it said age at death was 60 this is 1901 but she appeared on the census that year and was 67 then, do you think it is the same person, everything else matches. she should be 67 Margaret x

Did you get the death from Freebmd, if so it could be a mistranscription. Alternatively, it could just be that the person registering the death simply guessed at the age. Wendy x

Hi Wendy, yes I did get from Free BMD so might go ahead and order it as I know her husband did not register the death he had already died Thank you Margaret x

Well I couldn't find a death for one of mine in Scotland but found one with wrong age, no maiden name and details entered by warden - as I can't find another one that remotely looks possible reckon it must be right one.

I was thinking more along the lines of maybe the scan image was not clear. Wendy x

I am looking at my Grandfather's death certificate. The informant was his younger son, my Uncle Bill, but he has put the old man's birth date as 29 October 1887, yet it was really 19 Dec 1888. Goodness knows where Bill got that date from.

It's ok Jenny, I'm a transcriber myself and some of the scans I get are terribly difficult to read! With regard to the original indexes, I am quite sure there must be many, many errors in those and also omissions! Wendy x

I couldn't agree more Jenny. Freebmd is such a great site and the more records they get on, the more useful it will be for everyone! I also quite enjoy the transcribing - takes my mind off my brick walls! Wendy x
