I don't think so, Shelli. The sentence relating to married women is a footnote to the whole of the British Isles census, not just to Ireland. I seem to remember being told about this from another source, the reason it was obtained was to obtain statistics on family size and infant mortality. I believe it was also obtained for the censuses in 1911, 1921 & 1931.

You are absolutely right, here's what it says: 'Census First, or Christian, name Surname Relationship to the head of the household Age Gender Occupation Marital status Place of birth If disabled, nature of disability In Scotland this additional information was collected: whether Gaelic or Gaelic and English speaker number of rooms with 1 or more windows In Wales this additional information was collected: whether language spoken is Welsh, English or both In Ireland, households were asked for additional information: Religious denomination Literacy level Ability to speak or write Irish There was a separate form filled out by the enumerator which recorded for women: the number of years the marriage has lasted, the number of children born in the marriage and the number surviving.' don't know if this info is still available - I imagine as it is a separate form it might just be for statistical purposes and not record individual women's details. nell

Kevin Where did you get that idea from? I thought it just had what was on the census form - ie the names of everybody in the household, their relationship to the head of the household, their occupations, ages, place of birth. nell

The information recorded from this census included, for married women, how many years they had been married, how many children she had had in the marriage, and how many were surviving. But how do you access this information?
